Calmness is a highly important thing to reduce stress in a human's everyday life, and most people might connect calmness with nature and the silence of nature. This is why some people might take time out of their stressful, everyday schedule to take a walk in the forest to get some distance from the stress. The main goal with our sculpture, Amity is to show this connection between calm- ness and nature. Even though the name Amity might not suggest that one of the main themes we worked with was calmness but rather focusing on the nature aspect and how nature is connected. Amity have a meaning of friendly relations to one another and since we want our sculpture to rep- resent a tree or a forest, which a self- sufficient organism, a community where each of the trees are depending on one- another, cooperating and communicating, the title seems to suit perfectly. Amity is a sculpture that works as a contrast to a busy, technology impacted world, where people are using a lot of energy on always being online and available to others. Amity’s goal is to create a comment on this world by forming an abstract representation of a tree or forest, which is being disrupted by technological elements.
